An ionCube decoder reconstructs readable PHP from supported ionCube-protected files. If you need to inspect an inherited application, understand a protected plugin, or recover source you are authorized to work with, the useful first step is a preview of your actual file. AseWeb lets you do that online before creating an account or purchasing a complete decode.
This guide explains how to preview a file, choose the right workflow for a project ZIP, and check the result before using reconstructed PHP in an application.
Open the online ionCube decoder preview and upload one protected PHP file. The free result shows up to 15 formatted lines or 1,500 characters, whichever comes first.
How to use an ionCube decoder online
Start on the dedicated ionCube page and keep ionCube selected. Upload the original protected .php file rather than a screenshot, a text-editor copy, or a file renamed from another format. A filename alone cannot identify its contents: readable PHP, an unrelated binary, and a protected program can all have the same extension.
The public preview checks the uploaded content and returns a limited section of reconstructed source when the file is supported. Preview formatting makes compact arrays and statements easier to read; the character cap also applies when a protected file contains a very long string or a program stored on only a few physical lines.
No login is required for this initial check. The preview is useful for confirming that you chose the correct decoder and examining recoverable code structure. It does not establish that every function in a larger project will reconstruct or that the resulting application has already been tested.
From a free preview to a complete PHP file
- Preview the protected file. Inspect the available reconstructed lines on the ionCube page.
- Create an account or sign in. Your account provides a private workspace for full decode requests, downloads, and history.
- Choose enough file credits. Review the required credits for the selected PHP file or project archive.
- Submit the full decode. Follow its status in your workspace. Completed results offer a full code preview and a download.
- Save and validate the result. Download your reconstructed PHP and check it against the application's dependencies before deployment.
A paid result contains the complete reconstructed output produced for the successfully decoded file. The public preview's line and character limits do not apply to a completed full decode. For a multi-file request, review the individual file results as well as the overall job status.
Which ionCube Encoder and PHP versions are supported?
Compatibility depends on the encoder release, its target PHP version, the stored bytecode format, and the protection options used. An Encoder version number by itself is not a promise that every PHP target or language construct will work.
AseWeb's verified ionCube profiles include specific releases from Encoder 7.0.8 through 15.0.1. The legacy Encoder 7.0.8 profile targets PHP 5.3. Depending on the Encoder release, the PHP 7 and 8 profiles cover 7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4. These are separate verified combinations, not every possible pairing within those ranges.
For the exact list, consult the current Encoder and PHP compatibility table. The ionCube compatibility guide explains why two files with similar version labels can still produce different results.
Binary ionCube files can also be genuine protected PHP
Some ionCube output is stored as binary data rather than readable text. An editor may show unreadable characters even though the file is a genuine protected container. AseWeb recognizes supported binary ionCube containers and checks their format. An arbitrary binary renamed to .php is rejected instead of being treated as a supported program.
Recognition is only the first check. If an external encryption key is required, the file still needs the correct key material before its protected contents can be recovered.
When should you upload a project ZIP?
Use a ZIP when several protected files belong to the same plugin, theme, or application. Preserve their original directories so classes, configuration, and included files remain easy to locate in the downloaded project. The full-decode workflow supports nested paths rather than flattening every file into a single folder.
Keeping related files together is particularly useful when protected function bodies depend on key-generating companion code. Include the relevant project dependencies and avoid editing loader wrappers or protected payloads. Files that require a separate external key value cannot be unlocked simply by putting the same protected file into a ZIP.
The workspace displays the credits needed for the selected archive. After processing, inspect the expandable results to see which files decoded, which were retained unchanged, and which failed. Save any completed output you need while reviewing the remaining file-specific requirements.
How much does an ionCube decode cost?
The standard price is $1 per file credit. Purchases of more than 100 credits are priced at $0.90 per credit. Credits can be used for either supported decoder, and a ZIP is assessed by its PHP-file count rather than treated as one file credit.
Check the current decoder pricing and the required-credit total in your workspace before submitting a full job. Failed paid requests receive the applicable credit refund. Your history shows the outcome so you can distinguish a completed download from a file that still needs attention.
What can change in reconstructed PHP?
A decoder recovers information retained in the protected program. Formatting, quote style, temporary expressions, and some names can differ from the original source. Comments are recoverable only when the encoder kept them. Reconstruction does not recreate a missing database, application configuration, or a third-party dependency.
Run a syntax check with the appropriate PHP version, then test the reconstructed application in a separate environment. Compare important outputs, callbacks, and integration behavior before replacing live files. Download your files within seven days; upload and output files are retained for that period even though account history remains available.
ionCube decoder questions
Can I preview an ionCube file for free?
Yes. The public preview requires no account and shows up to 15 formatted lines or 1,500 characters. A full decode uses file credits.
Do I need to install an ionCube Loader to use the website?
No. You can upload and decode supported files directly through your browser. No installation is required.
Can the decoder recover a file without its external key?
Not when the missing key is required to decrypt its contents. Supply the required material through the appropriate supported workflow, or contact support to clarify what is needed.
What if my file uses SourceGuardian?
Choose the SourceGuardian decoder instead. The two formats have separate reconstruction paths. Read the SourceGuardian PHP recovery guide for that workflow.
